About the Organization

NDBI is an independent entity located within the premises of National Institute of Design, has been setup with the support of Department of Science and Technology (DSIR), Government of India, where in NID is giving its handholding support since its inception. NDBI is incorporated as a non-profit entity under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 (No. 1 of 1956) of India.

About the Program

National Design Business Incubator (NDBI) is a Business Incubator hosted at National Institute of Design and supported by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. It is also one of the Nodal Institute for implementing Govt. of Gujarat Startup/Innovation Policy.

NDBI provided following support to its selected startups:

• Co-working office space at its Ahmedabad and Bengaluru Campus
• Mentorship support
• Networking
• IPR support
• Access to Seed Funding*
• Access to design labs
• Other supports like legal, company formation etc

NDBI incubation program is for 18 months. An extension of 6 months may be given to a startup after the completion of 18 months, if NDBI feels that startup needs more time support & guidance from NDBI

Eligibility

Any startup, which qualifies as a startup as per the definition of Government of India is eligible to apply for NDBI.

• Startup should be registered as a private limited, LLP or registered partnership company*-
• Startup date of incorporation should not be more than 10 years old
• Startup’s turnover for any financial year since incorporation and registration should not have exceeded Rs. 100 crore
• Startup should be working on innovation, development or improvement of products or processes or services
• Startup should not be formed by splitting up or reconstruction of an existing business
• Startup should be atleast at a Prototype or MVP stage
