Tata Steel Foundation Observes Menstrual Hygiene Day at Meramandali

Tata Steel Foundation marked Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, aligned with this year’s global theme - “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld”, by conducting a series of awareness sessions across Meramandali region including Paik Purana Kote, Sridhi and Koreigadia villages. The initiative benefited more than 200 adolescent girls and women, aiming to foster awareness, promote safe menstrual practices, and dismantle the stigma surrounding menstruation.

At Paik Purana Kote, the event was organized at the Paik Purana Kote Panchayat Office, where the session was conducted by Dr. Chayanika Mishra, a reproductive and adolescent health expert from United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA), who led an engaging and informative session covering crucial topics, including the use of safe and hygienic menstrual products, hands-on demonstrations on making reusable pads, and busting myths related to menstruation In addition to this, the Tata Steel Foundation public health team conducted sessions on self-breast examination and screened participants for hemoglobin levels as part of a broader health awareness initiative.

Awareness sessions at both Sridhi and Koreigadia villages were held at the Anganwadi Centers and were led by the public health team of Tata Steel Foundation and involved local stakeholders, government frontline health workers, and adolescent girls. Discussions focused on encouraging open conversations, addressing misconceptions, and reinforcing the importance of menstrual hygiene for women’s health and dignity.

Through such community-centric initiatives, Tata Steel Foundation continues to reaffirm its commitment to health, dignity, and empowerment for women and girls.
