About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Agricultural Policy and Recovery Professional will provide technical support in developing policies for sustainable agriculture and disaster-resilient agricultural systems. Responsibilities include analysing existing policies, advising on best practices, and developing actionable strategies that integrate disaster risk reduction and post-disaster recovery into agricultural planning.

• Consultants: Provide technical assistance in the development of agricultural policies, including drafting agricultural and recovery policies and reports.
• Senior Consultants: Lead the formulation of agricultural policies, conduct policy impact assessments, and provide strategic guidance on agricultural and recovery reform strategies.
• Lead Consultants: Oversee large-scale agricultural policy initiatives, engage with stakeholders to promote policy implementation, and ensure and ensure integration of sustainability and recovery principles.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Master’s in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
• Certifications: Professional certification in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, or related field

Experiences:

• Consultants: 3-7 years of experience in agricultural policy development, farm management, or sustainable agricultural practices.
• Senior Consultants: 8-12 years of experience in agricultural policy design, farm management, practices.
• Lead Consultants: 12+ years of experience in agricultural policy formulation, strategic agricultural planning, and large-scale agricultural reforms.
