About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Erosion Management Professionals (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will provide expertise in analyzing erosion risks, designing mitigation structures, and integrating naturebased solutions. They will support local and regional authorities in managing erosion-prone landscapes through technical and strategic interventions.

• Consultants will support field surveys, erosion monitoring, and assist in the implementation of mitigation measures.
• Senior Consultants will lead technical analysis, coordinate with implementing agencies, and develop integrated erosion management plans.
• Lead Consultants will provide high-level advisory support, policy direction, and strategic oversight for large-scale erosion management initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Master’s in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geography, Watershed Management, or a related discipline. - Certifications: Certification in erosion control, river engineering, coastal zone management, or ecosystem restoration would be an added advantage.

Experiences:

• Consultant: 3–7 years of experience in erosion control projects, hydrological planning, field engineering, or environmental restoration.
• Senior Consultant: 8–12 years of experience including leadership in mitigation design, policy advisory, and implementation of large-scale erosion control programs.
• Lead Consultant: Over 12+ years of experience in strategic planning, ecosystem-based mitigation, cross-sector coordination, and institutional leadership in erosion management.
