About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

GESI Professionals (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will contribute across varying levels of expertise and responsibility to strengthen inclusive approaches to disaster risk reduction. These roles will support the integration of gender-responsive and socially inclusive practices across programs and policies.

• Consultants will support program implementation, community engagement, and basic inclusivity assessments.
• Senior Consultants will lead design and advisory roles, develop tools and frameworks, and facilitate stakeholder engagement.
• Lead Consultants will provide strategic leadership, ensure alignment with global frameworks, and guide large-scale GESI integration across national DRM efforts.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Master’s in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology, Public Policy, or a related field. - Certifications: Professional certifications in gender mainstreaming, human rights, inclusive planning, or social protection would be an added advantage.

 Experiences:

• Consultant: 3–7 years of experience in gender and social inclusion programming, policy implementation, capacity building, and community engagement.
• Senior Consultant: 8–12 years of experience, including leadership roles in GESI strategy, policy development, program design, and advocacy.
• Lead Consultant: More than 12+ years of experience in high-level advisory, policy leadership, global coordination, and institutional GESI integration.
