About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Housing Recovery Professional (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will be engaged to provide technical expertise at varying levels of responsibility and experience. They will be involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of housing and recovery programs in postdisaster situations. The roles are structured as follows:

• Consultants will support the design and implementation of housing recovery programs, including conducting housing needs assessments, resilience planning, and providing technical advice.
• Senior Consultants will lead the development and implementation of housing policies and recovery strategies, ensuring they align with national recovery frameworks and promote sustainable development.
• Lead Consultants will provide high-level leadership and oversight, ensuring the integration of resilience into disaster recovery efforts and leading complex housing projects and infrastructure recovery initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Masters in Social Science, or a related field.
• Certifications: Professional certification in Housing development, or related field.

Experiences:

• Consultant: 3-7 years of experience in housing projects, planning, and infrastructure development in disaster contexts.
• Senior Consultant: 8-12 years of experience in housing policy development, planning, and resilience planning in post-disaster recovery contexts.
• Lead Consultant: More than 12+ years of experience in housing and recovery, including expertise in large-scale housing projects, policy development, and infrastructure recovery.
