About the Organization

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Livelihood Recovery Professionals (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will work across different levels of responsibility to support comprehensive livelihood recovery efforts:

• Consultants will assist in field assessments, data collection, and implementation of livelihood restoration activities.
• Senior Consultants will lead design and coordination of recovery programs, stakeholder engagement, and technical guidance.
• Lead Consultants will provide strategic leadership, policy advisory, and oversee large-scale livelihood recovery and resilience initiatives.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education:

• Master’s degree in Development Studies, Rural Development, Economics, Social Work, Disaster Management, or related fields.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in livelihood programming, community development, or disaster recovery would be an added advantage.

Experiences:

• Consultant: 3–7 years of experience in livelihood recovery, community development, or related sectors.
• Senior Consultant: 8–12 years with leadership experience in program design, stakeholder coordination, and technical advisory roles.
• Lead Consultant: Over 12 years of experience in strategic leadership, policy advocacy, and large-scale recovery program management.
