The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with governments, businesses and civil society, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver healthier diets for all people, especially the most vulnerable.

Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, GAIN has offices in countries with high levels of malnutrition: Bangladesh, Benin, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. To support work in those countries, we have representative offices in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Job Description

GAIN is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to drive its digital, data, and technology function. The Head of Digital, Data and Technology will be responsible for ensuring value for money, and overseeing high standards of system integrity, whilst shaping a strategic, AI and data-enabled operation

This senior leadership role will lead on governance, projects, suppliers, and risk management, whilst leading a small internal team and overseeing digital, data, and technology systems across our 16 country offices.

Working closely with country management teams and technology partners, the role is responsible for delivering both transformational change and day-to-day operational excellence, while holding organisation-wide accountability for digital, data, and technology governance and advising senior leadership on risk, investment decisions, and operational resilience across GAIN's country offices.

This full-time role will be based out of New Delhi, India and will be offered on a 2.5 year fixed-term contract basis.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic vision for GAIN’s digital, data, and technology environment, ensuring systems are secure, efficient, and cost-effective.
• Advise senior leadership on technology strategy, investment, innovation, and opportunities to leverage AI.
• Drive digital transformation by delivering scalable, value-for-money solutions across geographically dispersed teams.
• Oversee the technology stack, budgets, project delivery, and standardised processes for systems development and implementation.
• Manage outsourced service providers to ensure high-quality, secure, 24/7 infrastructure across 16 countries aligned with SLAs.
• Ensure strong cybersecurity, GDPR compliance, and business continuity while managing technology and data-related risks.
• Provide reliable, timely data to support organisational planning, decision-making, and reporting, ensuring strong data governance and AI readiness.
• Lead and develop the digital, data, and technology team, ensuring effective project management, stakeholder engagement, and staff training.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and forward-thinking technology leader with strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. You will have experience managing IT or digital functions in international or geographically dispersed organisations with the NGO sector with proven strengths in cost, risk, security, value for money and delivering effective technology strategies. You will be an experienced people manager who can lead diverse teams, drive innovation, and balance operational and transformational priorities.

You will bring solid technical expertise across software development, network infrastructure, data, cloud technologies, and emerging tools such as AI, along with hands-on experience in tools like Dynamics NAV, SharePoint, SQL, Salesforce, and Tableau.

A minimum education background with Master’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, you understand how digital and data systems underpin organisational performance and are committed to delivering secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology solutions.
