The Opportunity:

Ayang Trust is seeking a Project Associate to lead its livelihood project on women’s entrepreneurship and enterprise development across the various development blocks of Lakhimpur district, Assam. The Project Associate will lead the overall implementation of the project across selected blocks/villages of the district. The role involves close coordination with communities, local institutions, and project teams to ensure effective delivery of project objectives, with a strong focus on capacity building, entrepreneurship development, and strengthening collective enterprises including Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). 


Key Expectations:

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of project activities across different parts of the district in line with approved plans and timelines.

  • Work closely with community institutions, farmer groups, women collectives, and local stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.

  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate capacity-building initiatives including training programs on livelihoods, entrepreneurship development, and enterprise management.

  • Support the formation, establishment, and strengthening of collective enterprises, including Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), SHG federations, or producer groups.

  • Provide handholding support to FPOs/collectives on governance, business planning, aggregation, value addition, and market linkages.

  • Ensure timely and effective execution of all project activities and troubleshoot field-level implementation challenges.

  • Oversee proper utilization of project budgets and ensure compliance with financial and operational guidelines.

  • Monitor project progress, track outputs and outcomes, and ensure quality implementation on the ground.

  • Prepare and submit periodic project reports, MIS updates, and documentation as required by the organization and donors.

  • Coordinate with district administration, line departments, and other relevant institutions to strengthen convergence and sustainability of interventions.

  • Any task assign by the reporting manager


Desired qualification and competencies:

  • Strong field implementation and community engagement skills

  • Experience in training facilitation and entrepreneurship development

  • Understanding of collective enterprises, FPOs, and rural livelihoods

  • Good documentation, reporting, and coordination skills

  • Ability to work independently, ambiguity in field conditions with minimal supervision

  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Work, Rural Management, or a related field from a reputed institution

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in development projects, livelihoods, community institutions, or enterprise promotion.

  • Experience in working with rural communities, producer collectives, SHGs, or FPOs will be an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic digital tools.

  • Fluency in Assamese and English (knowledge of local dialects will be an added advantage).

  • Willingness to travel extensively within the district.

  • Should have a two-wheeler and a valid driving license.”
