Position Summary

The Project Manager – Sustainable Livelihood & Agriculture will lead and manage SwitchON’s sustainable agriculture and livelihood projects across Maharashtra. The role requires a strong grounding in farmer institution strengthening, value chain development, compliance support, and project management, with the ability to build partnerships with government, CSR, NGOs, and academic institutions. The position will also play a key role in mentoring field staff and enabling FPOs/SHGs to become market-ready, compliant, and self-sustaining.

Job Responsibilities

Project Management & Implementation

  • Design and implement sustainable agriculture and livelihood projects aligned with program goals.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, compliance, and reporting to donors and management.
  • Regularly review and monitor day-to-day operations of FPOs and farmer institutions.
  • Ensure alignment of field activities with project targets and donor requirements.

Institutional Strengthening & Capacity Building

  • Strengthen farmer institutions (FPOs/SHGs) and develop agriculture value chains.
  • Support FPOs in compliance, licenses, business operations, and governance systems.
  • Facilitate training, mentoring, and exposure visits for field staff, FPO leaders, and community members.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage partnerships with district administration, government departments, CSR partners, NGOs, and academic institutions.
  • Promote scheme convergence and leverage government/CSR resources for FPOs and rural communities.
  • Represent SwitchON Foundation in regional forums, meetings, and collaborations.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Develop and track project MIS, M&E frameworks, and dashboards.
  • Document progress, prepare reports, and share insights with internal teams and external donors.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and impact assessments for continuous program improvement.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Rural Development, Agribusiness Management, Environmental Science, Social Science, or related fields.

Experience:

  • 6–8 years of relevant experience in agriculture, climate change, renewable energy, or rural development projects.
  • Experience in strengthening FPOs, compliance management, market linkages, and farmer institution building.
  • Flexible to 4–5 years for candidates with demonstrated field leadership and partnership-building skills.

Skills:

  • Strong project management, partnership building, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in community mobilization and farmer institution building.
  • Proficiency in data tracking, M&E systems, reporting, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in Hindi, English, and preferably Marathi.
  • Ability to travel extensively (40–50%) for field supervision, training, and stakeholder engagement.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration in agriculture.
  • Exposure to policy advocacy and digital agriculture tools.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports To: State Lead – Maharashtra
  • Direct Reports: 5–10 field staff, community mobilizers, and project officers

Travel Requirements

  • 40–50% travel across Eastern & Western India for field visits, training, and partnership meetings.

Compensation

  • Annual CTC: ₹5 Lakhs per annum (Fixed)
  • Additional Benefits: Variable Pay + Commitment Bonus (Compensation will be aligned with experience, qualifications, and current salary)
  • Reimbursement: Official travel, stay, and logistics as per organizational policy
