Position Summary

SwitchON Foundation is seeking a dynamic and field-oriented Project Manager – Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) for Dumka District, Jharkhand. The Project Manager will lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of CRA interventions with a strong focus on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), SHGs, and integrated farming systems. The role requires hands-on experience in agriculture-based livelihoods, institution building, and stakeholder coordination to ensure improved farm resilience, enhanced incomes, and inclusive participation of women and vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Implementation

  • Plan, implement, and monitor Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) interventions across Dumka district.
  • Ensure timely execution of project activities in line with approved workplans and targets.

FPO Strengthening & Market Linkages

  • Work closely with FPOs on institution building, governance, and business planning.
  • Support FPO leadership and members through capacity-building and handholding.
  • Facilitate market linkages, buyer connections, and value chain development.

Climate Resilient & Integrated Farming Systems

  • Promote climate-resilient agriculture practices and integrated farming systems (crop, livestock, horticulture, allied activities).
  • Provide technical guidance to farmers on sustainable agriculture and climate adaptation practices.

SHG & Livelihood Development

  • Coordinate with SHGs for livelihood enhancement and enterprise development.
  • Ensure inclusion and leadership of women farmers and SHG members in project activities.

Convergence & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Facilitate convergence with government schemes and line departments (Agriculture, NRLM, etc.).
  • Liaise with district administration, implementing partners, and other key stakeholders.

Capacity Building & Exposure

  • Organize trainings, exposure visits, and capacity-building programs for farmers, FPOs, and SHGs.

Monitoring, Reporting & Inclusion

  • Monitor field activities and track progress against project indicators.
  • Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and data collection.
  • Promote inclusion of women farmers, smallholders, and vulnerable groups in all interventions.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in – Agriculture/Rural Development/Social Sciences/Livelihoods /Natural Resource Management or related fields

Experience

  • 6–8 years of experience in agriculture-based development programs.
  • Proven experience working with FPOs, SHGs, and farmer collectives.
  • Hands-on exposure to integrated farming systems and climate-resilient agriculture practices.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong coordination, communication, and team management skills.
  • Field-oriented mindset with problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in training facilitation and community engagement.
  • Ability to work with government departments and district-level stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the district.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports To: State Lead / Program Manager – Sustainable Agriculture
  • Direct Reports: Block-level coordinators and field staff (as per project structure)

Travel Requirements

  • 60 - 70% travel across Dumka district blocks and villages.
  • Occasional travel for state-level meetings, training, and reviews.

Compensation

  • Compensation as per organization norms (Fixed + Variable Pay).
  • Travel reimbursements as per SwitchON Foundation policy.
  • Full-time, field-based role.
