About the Organization

ESSO-INCOIS was established as an autonomous body in 1999 under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and is a unit of the Earth System Science Organisation (ESSO). ESSO- INCOIS is mandated to provide the best possible ocean information and advisory services to society, industry, government agencies and the scientific community through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through systematic and focussed research.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include one or more of the following activities:

• Development/configuration/fine tuning of Wave or Ocean Circulation models
• Development/implementation/fine tuning of Data Assimilation packages for operational ocean services.

Analysis of Climate Projections Any other jobs that may be assigned from time to time.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences/ Climate Sciences/ Meteorology / Physical Oceanography/ Oceanography/ Ocean Engineering from a recognized university/institute with first class and at least 60% of marks in the qualifying degree.

                                  AND

• 7 (Seven) years of experience in ocean modeling/data analysis/process studies or data assimilation, proven through SCI publications in the field relevant to the job description.
• Experience with data analysis software such as Ferret, python, GrADS, Matlab, ODV etc. and programming languages (such as Fortran, C), Shell scripting etc.; experience in AI & ML applications, handling of satellite data and its processing.

Desirable Qualification:

• Ph.D. in Physics/ Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Meteorology/Atmospheric Science from a recognized university.

Working experience in LINUX / UNIX platforms.

Salary:

Rs. 78,000 + HRA.
