Job Description
John Snow India Private Limited (JSIPL) is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and detail-oriented Senior Communications Officer to plan and implement communication efforts that enhance the organization’s visibility, leadership position, and engagement with key stakeholders. The role is central to reinforcing JSIPL’s positioning as a trusted technical partner with deep expertise across diverse health areas by shaping a cohesive narrative and delivering high-quality, audience-specific content across platforms.
The position will be responsible for developing and managing content that reflects JSIPL’s work, achievements, and thought leadership across digital and traditional channels including social media, website, reports, presentations, newsletters, and more. Beyond content creation, the incumbent should be able to think critically about how each communication effort is to be positioned, designed, and presented – offering input to ensure clarity, consistency, and maximum engagement across audiences. The position should especially stay attuned to evolving digital communication trends and proactively introduce ideas that enhance engagement and reach through digital media and key platforms (such as LinkedIn).
The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams – including program directors, graphic designers, IT support, and external communication vendors/agencies – to ensure message alignment and visual consistency. The Senior Communications Officer will also coordinate with the JSI Home Office Communications team, adhering to brand guidelines and contributing relevant updates for global dissemination. The ideal candidate will bring strong writing skills, attention to detail, a good eye for design and messaging, and the ability to translate technical content into accessible, high-impact narratives for diverse audiences.
Job Responsibilities
Social Media Management
- Develop and maintain a dynamic social media calendar,
- Plan, schedule, and publish engaging posts across JSIPL’s social media platforms for organizational visibility and outreach
- Collaborate with project teams to identify timely and relevant content opportunities; proactively set up periodic check-ins to curate updates
- Assist project teams in creating high-quality, platform-specific content (text, images, videos), using appropriate hashtags, tags, and SEO-optimized keywords
- Coordinate with designers or use basic design tools to develop visual assets.
- Monitor and moderate audience engagement, responding to queries or comments in a timely and appropriate manner
Website Management
- Schedule regular calendar meetups with all the Projects to update the project’s content, graphics, pictures and other data/ information. Keep all the Organizational pages updated at all the times.
- Update and manage website content, preferably using a Content Management System (e.g., WordPress, Drupal)
- Collaborate with IT teams or outsourced vendors for structural changes or technical improvements (as/when needed)
- Monitor website performance, uptime, and user experience
Knowledge & Digital Inventory Management
- Maintain and regularly update JSIPL’s digital content repository, including photos, videos, graphics, publications, presentations, and branded materials
- Establish a structured inventory system with proper tagging, categorization, and version control to ensure easy access and retrieval
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure the archive reflects the most recent and accurate content
- Ensure all digital assets meet branding, copyright, and data privacy standards
Communications Support
- Support leadership and project teams in ideation, planning and refining key messages and strengthening JSIPL’s voice and positioning
- Ensure coherence and consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all communication materials
Content Development & Storytelling
- Research, write, and edit content for newsletters, press releases, blogs, reports, case studies, and stakeholder communications
- Collaborate with project staff to identify powerful stories and testimonials that highlight project impact and stories of change
- Translate technical and programmatic content into accessible, engaging formats tailored for different audiences
- Guide project teams in creating multimedia content (e.g., graphics, short videos, infographics) for use across digital and print formats
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Work, or a related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive, results-driven experience in communication planning, particularly in digital communications, social media management, or web content management—preferably within development sector organizations
- Familiarity with the development sector ecosystem and prior experience in development communications will be an asset
- Proficiency with content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and social media management tools
- Strong writing, editing, and visual content creation skills
- Experience with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus
- Familiarity with SEO principles and website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Experience in developing and executing digital campaigns aligned with organizational goals
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate technical content into compelling communication materials
