With an annual turnover of approximately INR 40 crores and a dedicated team of over 400 staffs across various locations, WASSAN implements impactful programs focused on natural resource management, rainfed agriculture, and agroecological transformation.

Job Description

The Finance Manager & Analyst will be a pivotal leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring stringent compliance with donor requirements, and providing in-depth financial analysis to guide strategic planning and efficient resource utilization. This role demands a strong blend of financial management expertise, analytical acumen, and a deep understanding of the non-profit sector’s unique financial landscape in India.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Management & Oversight (60%):

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget preparation process in collaboration with program and team leads.
  • Develop robust financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor budget adherence, identify deviations, and provide timely recommendations for corrective action.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual project related financial statements
  • Generate insightful financial reports for the Executive Secretary, Board, donors, and other stakeholders, including budget vs. actuals, project-wise financial performance, and cost efficiency analyses.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, informing strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Present financial data clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.

Grant & Donor Financial Management:

  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of funds received from various donors (domestic and international).
  • Monitor grant utilization against approved budgets and donor-specific financial guidelines.
  • Support Team Leads in the preparation and submission of timely and accurate financial reports to donors as per contractual agreements.
  • Support proposal development by providing accurate budget estimates and financial projections.
  • Implement robust internal controls for asset safeguarding and utilization.

Financial Analysis & Strategic Support (40%): * Conduct in-depth cost analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and financial modelling for new projects and strategic initiatives.

  • Provide financial insights to support organizational strategy, long-term planning, and sustainability efforts.
  • Analyze financial trends and performance indicators to support the Executive Secretary and Board in strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and control.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Education: 

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly preferred. B.Com/M.Com with an MBA (Finance) or equivalent professional qualification will also be considered, provided extensive relevant experience.

 Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial management; experience in a managerial role within the non-profit/development sector in India is preferable.
  • Prior experience in managing turnover of about Rs.10 cr or above. Strong experience in budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and grant financial management.
  • Experience with financial analysis, modeling, and providing strategic financial insights.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (Indian GAAP) and financial management best practices in the non-profit context.
  • Proficiency in accounting software Tally ERP.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, modelling, and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Hindi; knowledge of Telugu is preferable.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
