Job Description

UNICEF is seeking to engage a senior-level SBC– Senior Health Writer and editor consultant for 12 months to support the development of high-quality knowledge management products to support the Health and Immunization enabling environment. The consultant will be responsible for developing compelling case studies in multiple formats to showcase and document a wide variety of SBC interventions. This is a remote, home-based assignment, with some travel to the field, and the consultant will work under the guidance of an SBC Specialist from UNICEF.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• A University Master Degree in language translation, sociolinguistics, social and behavioral science, sociology anthropology, psychology, political science/ international development, public policy, education, communication, public relations or other related social science field is required.

 Professional Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in English-language journalism, with a strong track record of reporting, feature writing, or editorial work.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and publishing stories/articles in English in reputed national newspapers or digital media outlets.
• Proven ability to write human-interest stories, case studies, knowledge products, and advocacy content in an engaging and accessible style.
• Experience working in sectors such as public health, immunization, development, or SBC related initiatives

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English.
• Strong interviewing skills, both remotely and in-person.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into reader-friendly formats for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with visual storytelling (e.g., audio-visual presentations, photo essays, PPTs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PPT) and basic design/scripting tools.
• Strong time management, responsiveness to feedback, and ability to meet deadlines across multiple assignments.

Other Requirements:

• Must have own computer and internet access to submit deliverables in Word/PDF format.
• Willingness to undertake short-term field visits across UNICEF-supported states.
