About the Organization

Catalyst was launched in 2016 by IIT Mandi as Himachal Pradesh’s first Technology Business Incubator (TBI).

Strongly backed by the Central Government and State Government, Catalyst strives to incubate technology-based start-ups focused on economic and/or social impacts. As the name implies, it serves as a ‘catalyst’ to nurture and guide entrepreneurial initiatives with social and/or commercial objectives.

We are funded by IIT Mandi, the Department of science and technology (DST), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the HP Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (HPCED), and Vishal Bharat Comnet, Chennai.

Within just eight years since its inception, Catalyst has emerged as one of the leading incubators in Himachal Pradesh and the Himalayan region. As one of the country’s most active incubators and through the visionary leadership provided by IIT Mandi, Catalyst has created a startup-friendly support system to ensure the ideas of tomorrow don’t die.

About the Grant

IIT Mandi Catalyst envisions the establishment of a sustainable startup valley in Kamand, designed to attract high-tech startups from all corners of the country. IIT Mandi is fully dedicated to this vision and has pledged its physical, intellectual, and financial resources to craft a comprehensive blueprint for a distinctive startup destination tailored to the needs of Indian startups. Through collaboration with the centre and state government, IIT Mandi is steadfast in its commitment to create both hard and soft infrastructure, fostering an environment in the Kamand Valley that is not only technically world-class but also culturally rooted in the Himalayan ethos.

Eligibility

• Applicants working in the domain of Electronic Design and manufacturing, Deeptech Software / products and ICT space must only be considered.
• Only Indian citizens may apply.
• Applicants must be full-time UG/PG students with entrepreneurial pursuits or founders/co-founders of DPIIT-registered startups (≤ 2 years old).
• Applicants must be working on innovations at the stage of Ideation, Concept Development, Validation / Problem-Solution Fit, Proof of Concept (PoC), or Prototyping/Working Prototype in order to be considered for support under the GENESIS EiR Cohort 2 program.
• The selected applicants has to be physically incubated at IIT Mandi Catalyst.
• Only applicants/ entity registered from Tier II & III cities are eligible.
• EiR support will be extended only once under GENESIS.
