Call for Designer: Pattachitra Art
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for professional designers to collaborate with AIACA in showcasing the beauty and diversity of handcrafted products created by artisan groups across India. As part of this project, designers will work closely with a Pattachitra craft cluster based in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, to co-create a new product range that reflects the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the region.
About AIACA: AIACA (All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association). Established in 2004, AIACA is a membership-based non-profit organization dedicated to the growth and sustainability of India’s handloom and handicrafts sector. Our mission is to empower marginalized communities, particularly women, by enhancing their skills and creating multi-stakeholder collaborations to promote Indian handicrafts. We are committed to improving the standard of living for artisans and craft workers while preserving the cultural heritage of our nation.
About the current project: AIACA, with support from Misereor, has launched Project: Pro-Sustain, aimed at strengthening the economic competitiveness of eight artisanal collectives across three states—Odisha, Assam, and Gujarat. The project focuses on generating socio-economic benefits for the artisans, the majority of whom are women. As part of this initiative, the designer will work specifically with the Pattachitra craft cluster based in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, to develop innovative and market-ready product lines.
Deliverables:

- Develop a comprehensive design plan/spec sheet for a minimum of 50–60 products and provide ongoing support until all samples are completed
- Providing pricing recommendations for the domestic market aligned with the design ideas
- Ensure consistency and high-quality standards across all product samples developed under the project
Time Frame:
1st September to 30th November, 2025
Requirements: -
