About Karuna-Shechen

Karuna-Shechen, is a non-governmental organization that acts and advocates for a more altruistic world. The organization contributes to breaking the cycle of intense poverty, strengthening resilience, and developing the full potential of poor, vulnerable, or distressed populations through a local, community-driven, and holistic approach interconnecting health and hygiene, education, food security, economic development, and environment. Programs are implemented in India and Nepal. In India, we are a part of SRPC Trust and work in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

1.  Assignment Overview

Karuna Shechen currently operates a web and mobile-based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) that successfully manages our Outpatient Department (OPD) workflows. This existing platform is built on a technology stack comprising a Flutter mobile app, a CodeIgniter backend, a MySQL database, and a React/Angular/Vue.js web portal.

This RFP seeks a qualified technology partner to enhance and extend our existing HMIS application. The goal is to develop and integrate a new suite of modules specifically designed for community health management, building upon our current technical foundation.

2.  Objective of the Assignment

The technical agency is expected to design, develop a healthcare management information system which can be used by the employees in strengthening the process of data collection, reporting, monitoring and decision making. Objectives of the assignment are as follows:

1. To develop an android based offline mobile application for the field level users to capture data in regards to multiple indicators/activities of Karuna Shechen on the existing HMIS platform used by Karuna Shechen
2. To create both web-based and app based MIS portal (including report section), which can be used by the users at block, district, state and national level to track the status of different activities.
3. Design dashboards that will effectively display data for different level of users as well as overall status.
4. Training of the users in person on the developed application/software.
5. Troubleshooting and Grievance handling from the field.
6. Maintenance of the application for one year.
