We have educated, counselled, trained and rehabilitated people who are visually impaired or blind, and helped extend the reach of eye services to the rural heartlands and underserved population of India.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Heritage Researcher to join our team. The individual should have a broad understanding of both tangible and intangible heritage, and a deep commitment to researching, preserving, and promoting the rich cultural traditions of India. The role will involve engaging with both physical heritage (e.g., monuments, artifacts, architecture) as well as intangible cultural heritage (e.g., oral traditions, cultural practices, performing arts, festivals, rituals and knowledge systems).
Job Responsibilities
- Identify new geographic clusters and transport hubs in states of Gujarat and Maharashtra for RAAHI programme expansion.
- Undertake situational analysis and needs assessment for programme scale-up.
- Develop state-specific action plans for expansion in consultation with the Sightsavers India team.
- Identify, engage, and build partnerships with potential stakeholders including transport associations, logistics companies, hospitals, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Facilitate partnership meetings, MoUs and collaboration frameworks to ensure programme sustainability.
- Support partner NGOs and vision centres with capacity building and operational guidance.
- Monitor, review, and provide on-ground support to ongoing RAAHI interventions in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
- Ensure timely and quality reporting from partner vision centres, mobile units, and outreach activities.
- Submit a final report capturing best practices, success stories, innovative models, and recommendations for scaling up the programme in other locations.
