Role: Impact associate (India, Telugu speaking)

Location: Remote (must be available during regular business hours in India at least 5 hours a week)

Role Status: Part-time consultant (estimated 10-30 hours per week for 4-6 months)

About ChangeX

We are ChangeX. We have built a platform to connect communities to proven ideas and funding to scale sustainable impact.

Our business model is called Impact as a Service. We make it easy for funders to invest in the ideas they want to spread in regions they care most about. Our partners include Microsoft, the LEGO Foundation and Amazon.

This role: Impact associate (India)

This role is an opportunity for a customer support professional who is interested in having a positive impact. In this role, you will first be responsible for providing first-line support to organisations and individuals seeking funding for their community projects. You will be part of our Impact team, working closely with our global team of impact associates, supporting community changemakers around the world.

You will:

  • Be responsible for all Telugu language support, including introductory calls with community teams, ongoing email support, and managing our due diligence processes.
  • Carry out due diligence calls with those who have applied to start a community project in India, to provide support and assess whether they are committed and qualified to receive funding to start their project of choice. These calls are the most important touchpoint we have with community leaders who are starting projects, and they are an energising experience for the ChangeX team, giving us the opportunity to hear about their motivations and plans.
  • Manage Telugu language email support via Intercom, following up with community teams to gather the information needed to approve their project and ensuring that all inbound requests are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Oversee due diligence processes for all community teams in India, using Trello to gather and store information required for each project.
  • Review and edit content for the proven innovations included in portfolios in India, to ensure they are relevant for a local audience.
  • Support marketing outreach in India, for example by engaging in direct outreach to share funding opportunities with local networks, contributing to social media or email campaigns, and helping to promote events or webinars.
  • Provide support to the Impact team as they build local databases of potential applicants in India, including local research as well as helping the team understand local regulations, governance structures and other contextual factors where needed.
  • Occasionally interface with funding partners (for example, joining update calls or contributing to reports) to share local insights, stories and feedback from community teams in India, as needed.
  • Deliver on ongoing ad hoc translation requests as needed.

Timing
This is a 4-6 month part-time role that we estimate will require up 10-20 hours a week as an impact associate for 3-5 months. After this initial period and our fund launch in India, we can only commit to a few hours a week for ongoing support, estimated to be at about 5 hours a week for another 6-12 months. However, if new funds get confirmed in India, we’ll be able to expand the contract to include more hours again. You can choose the times that suit you best to carry out the work, once you have some time blocks available during regular working hours for the due diligence calls to be scheduled in your calendar via the ChangeX product.

We are looking for people* who have:

  • A demonstrated commitment to community-driven change and a good understanding of social and environmental issues
  • The ability to work through English and Telugu
  • Previous experience localising content from English to Telugu
  • Great communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly empathetic and strong ethical fibre
  • Strong research skills
  • The capability to be a fast learner
  • Experience with customer support tools (Intercom, Zoom, Calendly, Trello) preferred

*We encourage you to apply if you believe your skills and experience are a good fit for this role, even if you don’t tick every box above. When making hiring decisions, we aim to be inclusive and look beyond checklists. We want to find people who bring fresh perspectives and want to grow with our organisation.
