Job Description
The Project Coordinator role provides experienced professionals with an opportunity to make a significant contribution to Pratham’s Second Chance Program. The incumbent will lead on-the-ground execution, coordinate with government stakeholders and ensure smooth implementation, making this partnership impactful and sustainable. They will work closely with the Second Chance Core Group, State, and Program Implementation teams, supporting State and Program Heads by liaising with JEEViKA and the Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBOSE), acting as a vital bridge between these stakeholders and the Pratham team.
This is a cross-functional and dynamic role, providing exposure to diverse teams, projects, and experiences across Pratham.
Job Responsibilities
Program Planning & Support
- Support State and Program Heads in annual planning, budgeting and alignment with donor commitments.
- Understand government functions and processes to enable effective collaboration and program delivery.
Operational Coordination
- Liaise with state/program teams and central units to facilitate smooth program operations.
- Maintain relationships with JEEViKA and BBOSE officials, addressing emerging needs and ensuring timely coordination, communication and documentation.
- Represent Pratham and the Second Chance Program effectively in government meetings and discussions.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work with relevant units (Content, Measurement, Finance, Digital, etc.) to ensure timely and efficient implementation.
- Track program progress against plans, monitor financials, and address deviations proactively.
- Develop and maintain a repository of program documents, reports, and key learnings.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Preferably a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Studies/Commerce or a related field with 4–5 years of relevant experience in NGOs, foundations, or private sector firms, with an interest in education policy and program implementation.
- Experience in planning, program management, donor reporting and financial oversight.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English; Hindi proficiency required. Knowledge of any of the regional languages/dialects (Magadhi, Bhojpuri, Maithili, Angika, Bajjika) is a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively in rural Bihar under limited amenities.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build rapport with people from diverse academic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to a long-term engagement (4–5 years).
Preferred
- Exposure to the non-profit sector through professional or volunteer experience.
- Prior experience living and working in developing regions.
- Experience working in a government partnership/project.

- Candidates must be based out of Patna, or be willing to relocate.
