About Central Pollution Control Board

The CPCB is entrusted with the powers and functions under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. It serves as a field formation and also provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. It Co-ordinates the activities of the State Pollution Control Boards by providing technical assistance and guidance and also resolves disputes among them. It is the apex organisation in country in the field of pollution control, as a technical wing of MoEFC. The board is led by its Chairperson, who is generally a career civil servant from the Indian Administrative Service appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet of the Government of India. The current acting chairman is Shri Ravi Shanker Prasad and the Member Secretary is Dr. Prashant Gargava.

Essential:

• First class Master’s in Environmental Science/ Natural Science
• First Class Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology in (Environmental/ Chemical/ Civil/ Energy and Environment/ Biotechnology)
• Cumulative impact factor of total published papers in Journal should not be less than 7.
• Only papers published in UGC care list journals and Scopus indexed journals shall be considered for calculation of Impact factor
• Minimum Three Book/ edited book chapter Published by National/International Publishers with an established peer review system having ISBN number
• Minimum Three Technical Reports published by Central Pollution Control Board/ State Pollution Control Board

Required Experience:

• 5 years of relevant practical experience from reputed organizations in the field of Prevention, control & abatement of river pollution, industrial pollution, sewage management and environmental management. Candidate should be familiar with environmental norms, data analytics, etc.
