About the Project:

Room to Read, in partnership with the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), is setting up a State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to strengthen the Quality Education ecosystem in the state over a five-year period (2025–2030). The SPMU will design and implement initiatives aligned with the state’s FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) Mission and other quality education interventions at scale across Jharkhand. This includes driving academic excellence, system strengthening, teacher development, data-based decision making, and community engagement across all districts.

Position Overview:

The Associate, Program Documentation will play a critical role in capturing, curating, and communicating the journey, impact, and learnings of the project. The position will support internal and external documentation needs, generate high-quality knowledge products, and contribute to evidence-based advocacy. The Associate will report to the Project Lead and will work closely with the implementation teams to ensure timely and compelling reporting, and effective knowledge sharing across stakeholders including Room to Read’s India Country Office (INCO), government officials, and community members.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive monthly project updates, synthesising progress, key activities, outcomes, and next steps.
  • Develop engaging case studies and success stories that reflect the project's impact on schools, teachers, and students.
  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual reports, donor briefs, and other key project documents.

Content Development and Communication:

  • Support creation and delivery of presentations for various stakeholders, including Room to Read’s India Country Office and Government partners.
  • Design and maintain a repository of communication materials, field stories, and photo documentation.
  • Collaborate with program and M&E teams to capture data-backed narratives and present insights for wider dissemination.

Field Visits and Visual Documentation:

  • Regularly travel to field locations across districts to gather ground-level insights, interview stakeholders, and collect real-time documentation.
  • Take high-quality photographs during field visits for use in reports, presentations, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure that visuals are captioned, stored, and archived systematically.

Data Presentation and Analysis:

  • Work with the M&E and program team to present program data in structured formats using charts, tables, infographics, and narratives.
  • Analyse trends, extract insights, and help convert raw data into compelling communication materials.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Education, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years (1-2 years of relevant experience in the education/ development sector).
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills in Hindi and good writing skills in English.
  • Prior experience of working with Government at state level is desirable.
