Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and mission-aligned Program Director to lead our program delivery, organizational systems, and internal operations as we scale. This role will be central to driving impact on ground while strengthening backend systems, ensuring the organization is efficient, people-centered, and primed for growth. This is a senior leadership role with a pathway to future positions such as Head of Operations (HOO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) or equivalent in the development or impact sectors.
Job Responsibilities
Program Strategy & Implementation:
- Lead the planning and execution of programs across three verticals: Early Childhood Education, STEM, and Skilling.
- Build detailed implementation roadmaps and ensure on-time delivery with high quality and local contextualisation.
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to track program outcomes and inform strategy.
Team Leadership & Wellbeing:
- Lead a team of 90+ members, including program managers, program coordinators and fellows
- Build leadership capacity within the team and design professional development plans.
- Champion an inclusive, motivating, and supportive culture across the field and central teams.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across field locations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with program goals.
- Develop SOPs and systems for logistics, procurement, and vendor management in partnership with the admin and finance teams.
- Ensure strong reporting and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Financial Management:
- Work with the finance team to develop and manage program budgets
- Track financial efficiency while aligning spends to impact targets.
- Present budget utilization reports to the Board and funding partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Projects:
- Collaborate with Communications, Fundraising, and HR to align external and internal functions.
- Provide strategic inputs to the leadership team and represent operations at board-level discussions.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- A strong generalist with 6-10 years of experience in operations, program leadership, or nonprofit management.
- Comfortable leading large teams across distributed locations with sensitivity to rural and gendered contexts.
- Strategic thinkers with a bias for execution can see the 30,000 ft view while sweating the small stuff.
- Emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure, and committed to impact.
