Job Description – Project Officer/Social Worker (Only for Female Candidates)
Reports to: Project Manager
Location of the Project: Matunga, Mumbai
Job Purpose:
The Sharanam Centre for Girls provides a loving and stable family and home for formerly destitute, orphaned, and abandoned girls. The centre supports these girls and young women in a holistic way, with a goal of helping them achieve successful, independent, and productive lives.
The Project Officer / Social Worker position at the centre is vital to helping the girls to achieve their goals. This position entails becoming a core part of the extended Sharanam family and team, working together on our vision by broadly preparing the girls for higher education and future careers.
Key Responsibilities:
a. Education
All Students
•Support students with their homework, school projects, studies
•Attend open days
•Coordinate payment of fees
•Manage LCs, marksheets and other critical documents
School Students
•Coordinate scheduling with tutors
•Bring children to school
Junior College
•Participate in the admissions process
•Find tuitions
Post 12th – University, Diploma and +1
•Participate in the admissions process
•Coordinating student spending money
•Find institutes and programs
•Find hostels and PGs
•Monthly calls with students
b. Health
•Coordinate routine medical care as needed, including making appointments, taking kids to the doctor, picking up prescriptions, administering medication, and following up
•Coordinate critical medical care as needed, including hospital admissions, surgeries, etc.
•Maintaining medical records
•Annual checkups with the dentist, eye doctor, gynac, CBC
•Build and maintain strong relationships with medical partners
c. Planning and Admin
•Conduct periodic evaluation of on-going project programmes
•Identify new areas/ideas for programmes if any
•Prepare programme reports monthly/quarterly and annually and report to Project Manager/Incharge
•Prepare monthly plan of action
•Prepare and maintain records of beneficiaries
•Prepare expense sheets for accounting purposes
d. Self development
•Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills
•Attend seminars / workshops as and when held
Skills and Knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
•Graduation in any field, including social work
•Minimum 3-4 years of relevant work experience
•Good knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and Google applications
•Able to communicate (both written and spoken) effectively in English and Hindi
•Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills, and ability to multi-task
