Job Description
Under the direct supervision of Population Dynamics and Research Specialist, the UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist in coordination with the implementing partners of research projects and UN support to 2027 Census
- Support in data analysis in generating evidence for policy advocacy and programming.
- Support in strategic research initiatives by collecting, compiling and analysis of data from various sources and support dissemination of such research for advocacy and policy level discussion.
- Assist in documentation and knowledge management of generating evidences on emerg-ing population issues and thematic research.
- Contribute to preparing training resources for capacity building of government officials on use of data for decision making at the local levels.
- Provide data related support to the State offices and thematic clusters.
- Support CO’s efforts in organizing dissemination events / roundtables for policy advocacy.
- Support in preparing research briefs based on evidence generated for policy advocacy.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
- Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in (currently enrolled) in statistics, population sciences, demography, or related discipline.
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in data analysis, use of statistical package and excel
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded
Languages
- English, Level: Working knowledge, Required
- Hindi, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
