Generation Earthshot: Leadership Programme

About the Fellowship

Common Purpose, in partnership with The Earthshot Prize, invites applications from passionate young leaders across India for the Generation Earthshot: Leadership Programme. This fully funded leadership programme is designed for emerging changemakers who are already acting on climate change, sustainability, environmental challenges, or climate justice and are looking to strengthen their leadership skills and expand their impact. The programme aims to connect purpose-driven young leaders, help them develop their ideas and initiatives, and provide opportunities to build relationships with other climate-focused changemakers. Participants may also be inspired to pursue a future pathway toward becoming Earthshot Prize Finalists.

About the Programme

Generation Earthshot brings together young climate leaders who are actively developing ideas, projects, partnerships, or initiatives that address environmental challenges and create positive community or territorial impact. The programme combines a digital pre-programme session with a fully funded residential leadership experience in Mumbai.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

• Strengthen their leadership capabilities.
• Explore innovative approaches to climate action.
• Connect with fellow young changemakers from across India.
• Learn from diverse perspectives and experiences.
• Develop their ability to communicate and amplify climate solutions.
• Build networks that can support their continued climate action journey.

Who Should Apply?

• The programme is particularly suited to young people who are actively contributing to climate and environmental action and demonstrate the potential to become future leaders in the field.

Ideal applicants include:

• Climate Changemakers: Individuals developing or implementing ideas, projects, or partnerships addressing climate change and environmental challenges.
• Emerging Leaders: Young individuals who demonstrate initiative, curiosity, leadership potential, and a strong willingness to learn and grow.
• Climate Communicators: Storytellers and communicators using social media, creative work, public speaking, community engagement, or other platforms to highlight climate solutions.
• Young Leaders Across India: Applicants from diverse backgrounds, sectors, and communities who are between 18 and 30 years of age.
• Committed Participants: Individuals who can attend the complete residential programme and participate in the digital pre-programme session.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be an Indian citizen.
• Must be 18–30 years old.
• Must be fluent or proficient in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Must demonstrate involvement in climate action, sustainability, environmental work, or climate justice.
• Must be available to participate in the digital pre-programme session and the complete residential programme in Mumbai.
• Must demonstrate a genuine commitment to developing their leadership and climate-action impact.
