Sangath is a non-profit organisation working to improve mental and physical health across the lifespan through community-based approaches. Sangath’s work focuses on child development, adolescent and youth mental health, adult mental health and addictions research.
Job Description
MENTOR is a school-based mental health promotion program for reducing suicidal thoughts and behaviors among adolescents in Madhya Pradesh.
The project will be implemented in government, government aided, and private schools of Bhopal and Sehore during 2025-2027. We aim to reduce the incidence of symptoms of depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation in 13-17-year-old students through a combination of-
- Gatekeeper-training of teachers to identify, support and refer students at-risk of mental health concerns,
- A direct skill-building program for students to enable them to deal with adverse life events and manage stress,
- A linkage established for at-risk students to visit/seek help from nearby mental health professionals.
Job Responsibilities
Interns will work closely with the Project MENTOR team and support project implementation across schools and research activities.
- Assist the research team in delivering student workshops.
- Support preparation and management of intervention materials and resources for workshops.
- Assist with outcome assessments and other research-related data collection activities.
- Help maintain relevant research documentation for relevant activities.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision activities.
- Contribute to other project-related activities as required.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Required:
- Graduate or student pursuing a degree in Public Health, Psychology, Medicine, or any related field.
- Strong interest in adolescent mental health and research.
- Excellent verbal communication in Hindi and good written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage timelines for assigned tasks.
