About Mantra4Change

Nearly a decade ago, Mantra stepped into the education ecosystem with a vision to transform Public Education in India. In a nation like India with complexities of scale and diversity, enabling quality education cannot be exclusive of systemic reforms. Our mission is to enable enriching learning experiences for children by enabling education leaders to drive school improvements. Towards this, we partner with bodies like the Ministry of Education, State education departments, as well as other Civil Society Actors. We enable school improvement through a tri-fold approach - working directly with schools through our innovation projects, working with state governments towards enabling greater system capacity, and by working with ecosystem actors to nurture a collective of changemakers. As part of our work with state governments, one of our key programs is the Punjab Education Collective - a collective of 4 organizations jointly working towards systemic school reform in the state of Punjab, for which we were recently awarded “The Collective Social Innovation Award” by the Schwab Foundation at the World Economic Forum in January 2023. Through the span of the last 10 years, we have been able to reach 272,090 schools, 276,204 education leaders and 36,457,659 children.

About the Role

The Program Lead - BTP is a block-level, field-facing role that drives the on-ground implementation of Project-Based Learning across a cluster of about 20 to 25 government middle schools within the Gaya blocks, as part of a programme covering 200 schools. Working with existing government mentors, Complex Coordinators, and Block Technical Teams, the Program Lead runs regular classroom observation and coaching (not inspection), supports teachers to run Gold Standard PBL, and strengthens the training, review, recognition, and parent-engagement routines that make quality learning stick. The role is the direct instructional support the model treats as non-negotiable. This role demands strong classroom and academic sense, the ability to coach teachers and Head Teachers constructively using a structured observation tool, and comfort working closely with CRCCs, BEOs, and DIET Gaya. It offers the opportunity to build a replicable model of quality education from the ground up. This is a long-term role suited to someone who wants to commit to the block for the duration of the programme.

Roles and Responsibilities

Programme Design and Delivery

  • Support teachers in facilitating 8 to 10 projects a year using the concept-anchored Science and Mathematics handbooks mapped to NCERT competencies and ensure that each school actively uses its annual PBL kit and STEM library.
  • Design and deliver teacher, HM, and CRCC training modules based on classroom needs and data insights for effective implementation of the PBL programme.
  • Support the instructional design of PBL-based training content, including creating engaging, needs-based, and relevant training modules for teachers, HMs, and other stakeholders.

School Visits, Classroom Observation, and Feedback

  • Visit the 20 to 25 mapped government middle schools monthly and conduct classroom observations. Provide structured, constructive feedback to teachers on classroom practice and Project-Based Learning implementation and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Coach and mentor teachers to strengthen curriculum and pedagogical practices through classroom observations, feedback, and professional development.
  • Leverage student assessment dashboards and data systems to monitor learning outcomes, identify trends, and guide instructional interventions and teacher support.
  • Use the Grade 6-8 Classroom Observation Tool, with focus on the Check for Understanding domain, and work alongside government mentors, Complex Coordinators, and Block Technical Teams (coaching, not inspecting).

Training and Capacity Building with DIET/ Master Trainers

  • Co-deliver differentiated training for teachers, Head Teachers, and CRCCs at DIET Gaya, with need-based refreshers through block technical teams.
  • Build every session around a single question: what will the teacher do differently in the classroom the next day.

Supporting Education Leaders on KPIs and Block Review

  • Support the DPO, DIET, and Block Education Officers to own and drive clear academic and administrative KPIs (key performance Indicators), so PBL is led as a government mandate rather than an external ask.
  • Support BEOs in planning and conducting BEO-HM (Headmaster) review meetings, and help keep them academic, data-informed, and action-oriented.

Monthly Learning Circles

  • Support CRCCs and Head Teachers to run monthly peer learning circles at the complex level where teachers solve real classroom problems together.
  • Build the capability of CRCCs to facilitate these Learning Circles independently over time.

Micro-Improvement Projects, Reporting, and Dashboard

  • Encourage and support teachers to submit Micro-Improvement Projects on DIKSHA.
  • Create and maintain reports and a dashboard of the schools mapped, tracking visits, classroom observations, and progress, so that BEOs, the DPO, and district reviewers decide using real numbers.

Parent-Teacher Meetings as Learning Showcases

  • Support Head Teachers to run Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) that showcase student work and build community confidence, replacing passive reporting.

Recognition through PBL Melas

  • Help organise annual block and district PBL Melas that showcase student projects and effective teacher practice, with certificates for teachers, students, and parents to sustain motivation.

Experience & Competencies Required

  • Must be comfortable speaking and writing in English and Hindi.
  • Must have a Master’s degree in Education, Maths, Science, Social Science (SST), or a related field.
  • Must have 2–3 years of experience in teaching, mentoring, training, or other education-related work.
  • Must have experience in planning and conducting training sessions.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Google Workspace, Canva, and AI tools.
  • Must be willing to live in the assigned block and travel regularly to schools.
  • Must be willing to stay in the assigned block for the full duration of the
