About Digital Equalizer
Digital Equalizer (DE) envisions a world where all children from under-served communities, especially girls, are prepared for a career and life.
The program is bridging India’s digital divide by providing and integrating technology into underperforming, under-resourced public schools, training teachers in techno-pedagogy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) methodology, and transforming classrooms into collaborative and interactive places for students to learn while preparing them for success in the 21st century global economy.
Since its inception in 2004, the Program has empowered 5.4 million children with interactive STEM experiences, trained 182,025 teachers in STEM pedagogy, and transformed 24,471 schools across 35 states and union territories of the country.
Objectives of the Project
- Strengthen STEM school education in rural government schools.
- Improve the performance of underprivileged girl students from government schools in competitive exams.
- Build the institutional capacity of 5 District Institute for Education Training (DIETs) on STEM learning, techno-pedagogy, and preparation of students for the competitive exam over 4.5 years.
- Institutionalize best practices for sustainability through creation of a playbook in partnership with the government and sharing evidence of the same.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure project implementation in the schools, so that Key Performance Indicators of the project are met in a timely fashion.
- Work with Govt Schools (as assigned and allocated).
- Build and manage relationships with school teachers and principals to enhance ownership of the program.
- Help students make their projects and present them to various stakeholders.
- Conduct STEM club activities, events, mentoring sessions, inter-school and intra-school activities, share-outs, and hackathons with the school students.
- Plan parents' meetings and other events at the school level, as necessary.
- Reporting as per the organization's standards. Prepare weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly reports.
- Identify and document case studies to share as part of the program reporting.
- Coaching and mentoring teachers and students at the school level.
- Ensuring adherence to minimum guarantee components in all schools of the respective cluster.
- Regular school visits to facilitate sessions and implement activities as assigned for the program deliverables.
- Responsible for database management – update, maintain, and work closely with the Project Lead to manage accurate data. Will be responsible for collecting student data and monitoring data.
- Conduct regular sessions on teacher capacity building and assigned activities in assigned government schools.
- Plan the timetable and session delivery in the school in consultation with the headmaster and the teachers.
- Conduct program orientation for the school staff.
Qualification and Experience
- A master’s degree in science/technology with B.Ed / MCA or BE.
- 0–3 years of experience.
Skills
- Proficiency in using digital tools, especially MS Office, is a must.
- Possesses a variety of skills – multi-tasking, time management, flexibility and adaptability.
- Good communication skills in regional language – both written and verbal.
- Good analytical skills and problem solver.
- Ability to work in the field, with communities, and in multi-stakeholder processes.
- Readiness to travel and commit to demanding program requirements.
