About the Organization

Kerala Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) is a new institution of the Government of Kerala, that aims to nurture leadership amongst the youth in the state. It is chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and works under the General Administration Department (GAD). KYLA is the first of its kind Government Leadership Institute in the country to transform our youth into socially and potentially viable inclusive leaders of the future who are receptive and accommodative to the changes around. This potentially growing institution aims to build capacities, perspectives and attitudes of the Kerala youth enabling them to think and be better civic-conscious leaders and state-of-the-art agents in values and ethics. KYLA aims to provide access to global resources in the field of public policy, governance, administration, leadership, management, technology, constitution, etc., and promoting a cultural and attitudinal reorientation of the youth to think, help, live and aim better and to utilize their potential and incorporate innovative ideas in state governance

About the Fellowship

Applications are invited for the Young Kerala Fellowship Programme (YKFP) of the Kerala Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) under the General Administration Department. Any graduates in the age group of 21 to 27 years are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a degree from any recognized university as a basic qualification. The fellowship scheme is for a period of 6 months (Extendable to 1 year). One person will be selected from 14 districts. A stipend of Rs 25,000 will be given every month. In association with the district collectors, district development commissioners and sub-collectors of their respective districts, you will get the opportunity to work on various priority projects implemented by the Government of Kerala and other projects implemented by the district administrations. There will also be a residential certificate course on Public Policy, Public Administration, Governance, Leadership and Management at IMG, Thiruvananthapuram.

Eligibility

  • Should be a resident of Kerala with a known proficiency in both English and Malayalam.
  • Have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Between 21 and 27 years of age on the date of application.

Duration and Stipend

The duration of the fellowship programme is 6 months (extendable up to 1 year). The fellows will be offered a certificate programme on Public Policy, Governance, Administration, Leadership and Management from IMG. The stipend for the fellows will be Rs. 25,000/- per month to 14 fellows during their tenure, and the overall expenses will be monitored by the proposed Selection and Monitoring Committee.
