About the Organization

The districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong come under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in accordance with the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Act great was enacted in 2011. As per section 26 of the GTA Act 2011, GTA has been given the administrative, executive and financial powers in respect of 59 subjects. Since its inception GTA has aimed at working for the socio-economic infrastructural, educational, cults and linguistic development of the region, keeping in view the ethnic identity of the Gorkhas and giving priority to the peaceful co-existence of all communities, which is characteristic of the unity of the hills.

Job Description

• Provide Support to the District Mission Management unit in implementation of Farm Livelihoods initiatives of WBSRLM (Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock, Fisheries, NTFP etc.)
• Facilitate preparation / updating of data related to Farm Livelihood initiatives in online MPR
• Establish & maintain effective coordination with the offices of :
• Deputy Director of Agriculture, District Lead Bank Manager, Deputy Director (ARD), Assistant Director of Fisheries, Deputy Director of Horticulture etc.
• Block Development Officer, Joint Block Development Officer, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Block Livestock Development Officer, Bank Managers, Fisheries Extension Officer, Block Level Horticulture Nodal official etc.
• Krishi Vigyan Kendra Officials
• Partner NGOs
• Identify institutional buyers/ local buyers & conduct buyer seller meet for the products related to farm livelihoods.
• Support DMMU/BMMU with data for development of new proposals in farm livelihoods domain.
• Support DMMU & BMMUs in execution of capacity building plans for the officials, Community Resource Persons & Community members on farm livelihoods
• Facilitate workshops, consultations necessary for implementation of Farm Livelihoods initiatives.
• Ensure data collection and entry into MIS for monitoring & evaluation of farm livelihood initiatives.
• To identify & document best practices in farm livelihoods initiatives
• 10. Any other responsibility/task assigned by the authority from time to time

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Preferential Qualification

• Graduate in Agriculture / Veterinary / Fisheries from a reputed university/institute having experience in rural farm livelihood intervention

Essential Qualification

• Graduate/ Post Graduate in Rural Development & Management / Social Work/ Sociology
• Within 25-50 years as on the date of notification of selection process, giving relaxation of05 years for individuals belonging to SC/ST Categories and 03 years for individuals belonging to OBC-A/OBC-B Categories except for retired officials.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Rural Development under Government and/ or NonGovernment organizations
• Language known: Nepali (Written and Spoken)
• Knowledge of computer- Word, excel, power point and basic computer knowledge supported by Course certificate.
• Preference will be given to Community level personnel and female candidates
• Should have clear and sound knowledge about functioning of SHGs/SHG based federations
• Must have desire to learn new skills & acquire knowledge and is physically fit.
• Is willing to go outside block / state / district as and when required.
• Must not continue to act as an office bearer of any Upa Sangha/ Sangha/Maha-Sangha
• Can not continue to act as an employee or office bearer of PRI.
• . Can not continue to render service as an ICDS worker or as an ASHA activist or as employee of any government organization/ NGO.
• Candidates from locality (within district) will be preferred
