About the Organization
The Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) is a flagship initiative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to foster inclusive and decentralized innovation across the state. Operating as a Section 8 not-for-profit company, RTIH follows a hub-and-spoke model, with a central hub at Amaravati and innovation spokes in key districts. It promotes entrepreneurship, grassroots innovation, applied research, and development-focused technologies through a strong network of public-private-academic partnerships.
Job Description
Head – Incubation & Labs will be responsible for designing, executing, and scaling the incubation and innovation lab programs across RTIH locations. This role involves managing startup pipelines, coordinating sector-specific innovation labs, supporting prototyping infrastructure, and ensuring a strong focus on tangible, outcome-driven entrepreneurship support.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in managing incubators or accelerators, working closely with startups, and translating sectoral opportunities into innovation-led enterprises — especially in emerging and underrepresented geographies.
Job Responsibilities
Incubation Strategy & Operations
- Design and manage startup incubation programs aligned with RTIH’s priority sectors (e.g., agri-tech, health-tech, clean tech, rural innovation).
- Oversee selection, onboarding, and continuous support of incubatees across RTIH hub and spokes.
- Set up and manage incubation infrastructure, including mentorship, legal/IP support, and investor connections.
Innovation Labs & Infrastructure Management
- Conceptualize and operationalize sectoral innovation labs in collaboration with academic and industry partners.
- Supervise lab setup, procurement of equipment, and protocols for open-access usage by startups and researchers.
- Promote cross-functional innovation involving engineers, designers, and social entrepreneurs.
Startup Support Services
- Facilitate access to grants, seed funding, CSR capital, and investor networks.
- Organize training programs, masterclasses, and bootcamps to enhance business readiness.
- Support market linkage, scale-up, and tech transfer opportunities for incubatees.
Program Monitoring & Impact Assessment
- Maintain incubation metrics such as jobs created, funding mobilized, products launched, and patents filed.
- Submit periodic reports to the CEO and Board with analytics on incubation performance.
- Coordinate demo days, annual startup showcases, and stakeholder review forums.
Network & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with universities, research institutions, innovation councils, and startup mentors.
- Represent RTIH at innovation conferences, startup expos, and lab consortiums.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Educational Qualifications:
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Business Management, or Applied Sciences.
- Certifications or additional training in incubation management, startup support, or lab infrastructure will be advantageous.
Professional Experience:
- 3-6 years of experience in startup incubation, innovation management, or technology transfer roles.
- Experience working in or with incubators, accelerators, research labs, or development-stage enterprises.
- Proven ability to manage innovation spaces, engage early-stage entrepreneurs, and build support systems.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong program and operations management capabilities.
- Knowledge of innovation funding mechanisms, prototyping cycles, and incubation benchmarks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work across government, academic, and startup environments.
- Passion for enabling equitable, regional innovation.
