Launch Girls equips adolescent girls with the skills, agency, and support to access economic opportunities and change perceptions of their potential. When girls access the workforce and gain financial independence, they can break cycles of poverty and inequality for generations to come. Through our Girl Boss program, girls carve out their own path for the future, whether it's entrepreneurship, employment, or higher education. Operating since 2020, we have reached over 25,000 girls in 16 countries through a growing network of 32 partners.
Job Description
The Operations Director will be the implementer of Launch Girls' scale journey, leading our expansion from 25,000 to 1 million girls across the Global South, specifically South Asia and Africa. This is a pivotal leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with responsibility for all regional operations, partner networks, and program delivery across the Global South.
As a critical role in the organization, you will lead a growing team of Regional Leads, Program Managers, and Program Associates across multiple countries. You will manage complex government partnerships, build an international partner network, develop sustainable nonprofit collaborations, establish quality assurance systems, and drive the digital transformation that will enable us to scale effectively.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead the execution of Launch Girls' strategic plan across all operational dimensions
- Develop and implement annual operational plans that translate strategic goals into measurable outcomes across regions
- Drive strategic planning for scaling existing programs and launching new initiatives (learning labs, digital platform, alumni networks)
- Partner with the CEO on organizational strategy, including new market entry, partnership models, and revenue generation opportunities
- Identify and mitigate operational risks while maintaining program quality at scale
- Codify best practices, processes, and learnings into playbooks, standard operating procedures, and frameworks that enable replication and scale
- Create processes and tools that allow partners to implement high-quality programming with consistency and fidelity
Partner Network Development & Management
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of government, nonprofit, and institutional partners across South Asia and Africa to reach 1M girls
- Develop weighted partner success criteria and vetting processes for different partner types (government, large NGOs, community organizations)
- Lead partner recruitment, assessment, onboarding, and relationship management throughout the partnership lifecycle
- Create and manage partnership frameworks including roles, responsibilities, cost-sharing models, and graduation pathways
- Establish protocols for working with different government entities (state departments, public universities, institutional networks)
- Build revenue-generating partnership models and co-funding structures with partners
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of Regional Leads, Program Managers, and Senior Program Managers across India, Africa, and other regions
- Build organizational capacity by identifying talent gaps, creating hiring plans, and recruiting high-performing team members
- Drive employee engagement through regular check-ins, team building activities, recognition programs, and creating opportunities for connection across the distributed team
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports both individual growth and collective achievement
- Establish clear accountability structures, performance metrics, and professional development pathways
- Ensure team alignment on Launch Girls' mission, values, and strategic priorities
Program Quality & Delivery
- Ensure program implementation across all partners delivers on work-readiness outcomes for girls
- Establish and oversee quality assurance frameworks and processes across the partner network
- Support the establishment and management of learning labs to drive continuous program improvement through innovation and iteration
- Monitor program delivery quality through dashboards, field visits, partner reports, and direct stakeholder engagement
- Lead troubleshooting and rapid response to implementation challenges across the network
- Share field insights with curriculum and program teams to strengthen overall program design
Digital Innovation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Data
- Lead the integration of digital tools and AI to enhance partner support, program delivery, and girl engagement
- Oversee the rollout of digital resources and training to partners across regions
- Create processes for ongoing platform improvement based on user feedback and performance data
- Oversee the implementation of M&E frameworks that measure program impact, quality, and partner performance
- Identify data gaps and optimize data processes for decision-making at scale
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Serve as a key representative of Launch Girls with government stakeholders, partners, donors, and institutional leaders
- Lead regular communication with government officials, partner executives, and other senior stakeholders
- Support government review meetings with evidence-based updates and strategic recommendations
- Represent Launch Girls in donor meetings, site visits, and presentations, showcasing program impact and operational excellence
- Support fundraising efforts by providing compelling program data, impact stories, and operational insights for donor proposals and reports
- Build and maintain playbooks for scale, databases, manuals, certificates, dashboards, and other program documents with the team
- Ensure compliance with government agreements and partnership commitments
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the operations team budget across all regions and functions
- Create detailed budgets for large-scale implementation with partners
- Identify opportunities for cost efficiency while maintaining program quality
- Support fundraising efforts through operational planning and impact documentation
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in program operations, with at least 5 years in senior/leadership roles managing large-scale social impact, skilling, or education programs
- Demonstrated success scaling programs significantly (e.g., 5x growth in reach, geographic expansion, or impact)
- Extensive experience working with government systems, state departments, public universities, or large institutional networks in South Asia and/or Africa
- Proven track record building and managing high-performing, geographically distributed teams (10+ people)
- Strong experience in partner management across the full lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, capacity building, and performance management
- Experience developing strategic plans and creating operational systems (playbooks, SOPs, frameworks) that enable consistent implementation at scale
- Comfort with M&E frameworks, data-driven decision making, and digital platforms for program delivery
- Clear, compelling written and verbal communication in English and Hindi; additional languages such as Telugu or Kannada are valuable
- Comfortable with regular travel across India and, when needed, to Africa
