About the Organization
Patang is a dynamic NGO based in Odisha, India, addressing critical issues such as youth development, gender equality, and education. Since our inception in 2003, we have dedicated ourselves to driving social change by empowering young people, largely from marginalized communities, including women and girls, SC, ST, OBCs, and religious minorities.
Job Description
Patang is in an exciting growth phase and has set up an office in Delhi to expand our national reach. We are looking for a Programme Manager to lead the Two Feet Ahead (TFAT) Programme—a unique initiative run by 5 NGOs across 3 states in India, focusing on improving learning outcomes, enabling child participation, and building resilience among children and adolescents through life skills education.
The TFAT programme at Patang, currently operational across two blocks in Bargarh (Odisha), adopts a Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education (MLE) approach and engages children and youth in reimagining education, strengthening school governance, and leading change in their communities.
Job Responsibilities
Team Management and Capacity Building
- Lead, inspire, and support a team of facilitators delivering TFAT’s components on foundational learning, participation, and life skills.
- Design and implement training to strengthen competencies in child participation, facilitation, and multilingual learning.
Programme Design and Implementation
- Ensure high-quality delivery of community programmes learning centers, Language Melas, and children's festivals.
- Strengthen child and youth-led structures such as child collectives and village-level action forums.
Partnership Management
- Build and manage partnerships with government, NGOs, and educational institutions that align with Patang’s vision for child rights and quality education.
Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation
- Develop implementation plans, manage budgets, and ensure programme milestones are met.
- Oversee documentation and lead M&E efforts to track and adapt strategies.
Visibility and Fundraising
- Support proposal writing, donor reporting, and contributing to fundraising opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support other organizational tasks as assigned, contributing to Patang’s broader goals.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or a relevant field. Experience: - 4–5 years of experience in managing education, child rights, or youth-focused development programmes.
Key Attributes:
- Strong commitment to children's rights, learning, and participation.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills in Hindi and English (Odia is a plus).
- Ability to coordinate multi-layered programs and lead teams with empathy and clarity.
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally work on weekends.
