About the Organization

Animal Law & Policy Network (ALPN) is a not-for-profit independent think-tank that is working towards making animal welfare a policy priority for the governments across India. ALPN undertakes research and advocacy on the intersection of animal welfare and public health, human rights, food safety, environment protection, human rights and climate resilience.

Job Description

We are hiring four (4) Research Associates to conduct field research, conduct interviews, support data collection, analysis, and documentation. This is a two month long, full-time, on-ground research role based in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct field visits across assigned localities in Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
• Undertake interviews with NGO leaders, team members through site visits.
• Collect and map information about NGOs and their activities.
• Enter, organise, and aggregate data into research databases.
• Assist in analysis and preparation of assessment findings.
• Contribute to drafting research summaries, tables, and sections of the final report.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Graduate level education from any recognised college or university with strong passion in allied fields such as animal welfare, public policy, humanities or social sciences.
• Prior exposure (in the form of research, education, internships, work experience etc.) in animal welfare, or any social justice or development sector is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and comfort with on-ground interaction.
• Ability to organise data with accuracy; familiarity with spreadsheets is a plus.
• Prior research, fieldwork, or data collection experience is preferred but not mandatory (freshers with strong motivation in animal welfare, intersectional studies associated with social justice,  public policy and other allied fields are encouraged to apply).
• Must be based in Mumbai Metropolitan Region and able to undertake field visits independently.

Salary

₹40,000 per month [+ travel expenses within Mumbai Metropolitan Region covered separately]
