About the Organization
The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission to build an innovative school network that empowers children from underserved communities. Akanksha currently serves 14,600 students and 5,800+ alumni through its 27 schools in Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur in partnership with municipalities. Over the next 3 years (2025-2028), Akanksha will be focusing on the following key priorities;
- Doubling down on excellence and innovation across our current schools
- Accelerate the academic learning and differentiated pathways for students leveraging personalized learning using technology and partnering with parents
- Continue our efforts on well-being and safety of our children through a focused implementation of socio-emotional learning programs.
- Designing and implementing new programs to develop new age competencies like entrepreneurship, digital literacy, environmental consciousness and financial literacy.
- Setting up new schools across existing and new geographies. Piloting 1 or more experimental schools to challenge the existing education structures
- Continue supporting our alumni to push the boundaries of achievements and ensuring they stay on track to break the cycle of poverty.
- Launch and grow our multiplier initiative in partnership with the governments and likeminded non-profit organizations, through codification of Akanksha’s ‘best in class’ practices around Art, socio emotional learning, parents as partners and English as second language.
- Amplify key learnings from Akanksha’s public-private partnership model to drive larger change in the education ecosystem
Job Description
As Senior Associate – Communications (Nagpur), you will play a key role in managing Akanksha’s communications in the region. Your top priorities will be:
- Managing and growing Akanksha’s social media handle – increasing engagement and building meaningful collaborations.
- Exploring new avenues of outreach, including media partnerships, newspaper articles, and networking events.
- Exploring and building partnerships that support Akanksha’s programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Managing and growing Akanksha’s social media presence.
- Drafting and designing content for newsletters, reports, video scripts, and social media.
- Managing and executing events for internal and external initiatives, such as staff meetings, townhalls, and annual functions.
- Staying connected with other teams to share timely updates relevant to communications and outreach strategies.
- Supporting the donor team with collating school-wise reports and related requirements.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of relevant work experience in marketing and communications, with exposure to social media, writing, and events.
- Experience in a deadline-oriented environment.
Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Proficiency in design tools like Canva, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or Premiere Pro).
- Good skills in photography and video editing.
- Strong project management and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency.
Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree in Marketing/Advertising/related fields.
