Senior Program Associate
Plastics For Change has a core objective to provide dignified sustainable economic opportunities for the urban, semi-urban and rural poor waste collector’s and improve their quality of life through various social & community interventions.
Job Description:
We are looking for passionate and highly skilled individuals who can help us make a difference to the lives of waste collectors in India who make a living collecting, sorting, recycling and selling materials that someone else has thrown away. We are looking for people who share our values and are driven to create a positive change in the community.
Job Title Senior Program Associate
Reports to Lead Programs
Location Chennai
Salary: ₹23,000 to ₹28,000
Benefits: Full-time role, group health insurance, accidental insurance, performance pay, and other benefits.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Project Execution and Management-70%
- The timely rollout and implementation of projects, ensuring alignment with project plans.
- Track and ensure quality delivery of detailed implementation plans (DIPs).
- Collaborate with program lead and coordinator and internal teams to secure necessary support for project execution.
- Encourage and incorporate innovative approaches in project activities.
- Address operational challenges promptly in coordination with the program coordinator and Program Lead.
- Conduct regular field visits (100% of the time) to monitor progress and ensure goals are met.
- Foster community involvement and ownership of project activities for long-term
- sustainability.
- Align project activities with community aspirations and leverage their strengths to enhance ownership.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in all project activities to benefit the target population.
Develop Partnerships and Advocacy 30%
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at community, ward, and district levels across private, government, academic, and NGO sectors.
- Increase project and organizational visibility among government and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to align stakeholder activities with project goals.
- Representthe project and organization at meetings, committees, and advocacy forums. - Participate in advocacy efforts at district and state levels to drive impactful change.
- Collaborate with the technical team to design effective advocacy strategies and activities. -

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications-
- Graduate in Social Work/ Rural Development/ Rural Management/ Social Sciences/Any degree with NGO experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in program implementation in the social sector.
- Good understanding of social and environmental concepts and methods.
- Fluency in English, Tamil and Hindi languages.
Skills-
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work.
- Be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the sector.
- Ability to develop good relationships with stakeholders.
- Has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to understand individual's motivations
- Open to new challenges.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.
- Eye for detail.
- Able to meet deadlines and produce quality outputs.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Humility, honesty, transparency, integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
