Course Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Development Leadership is an 11-month programme offered by Azim Premji University in a blended format (online and on-campus).

This programme is specifically designed for mid-career and senior professionals working in the development sector who aspire to take on or strengthen leadership roles within their organisations.

The curriculum focuses on:

• Building a deeper understanding of India’s development context and social realities
• Strengthening leadership and organisational capabilities
• Enhancing skills in areas such as communication, financial management, and data analysis
• Developing the ability to design equitable and sustainable development strategies
• The programme enables professionals to continue working while studying, making it suitable for those already engaged in NGOs, social movements, and grassroots organisations.

Eligibility Criteria

               Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university
• Minimum 8+ years of work experience in the development sector (e.g., education, health, livelihood, sustainability, etc.)
• Currently in a leadership role or likely to move into one within the next few years
• Recommendation/consent from current employer
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Admission Deadline & Key Dates For the 2026 admission cycle (indicative timeline):

• Last date to apply 11^th Of Oct 2026
• Selection process (written test & interviews): Oct 2026
• Programme commencement: January 2027

Additionally, in another admission cycle, the structured process includes:

• Application submission (Last date 11^th Oct 2026)
• Recommendation form to be submitted by the current employer of shortlisted candidates by 15 October 2026
• Written test 18^th Oct 2026
• Panel interviews (scheduled in phases)
