Summary of the project:

SELCO Foundation (SF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing energy poverty and empowering marginalized communities. As part of ongoing and new programs, SELCO Foundation will be conducting field-based studies to explore the relationships between climate change, livelihoods, and community resilience in one district of Assam and one

district of Nagaland. To support this, we are looking to onboard a Research Consultant who will be responsible for primary data collection from intervention sites, households,

enterprises, institutions, and other stakeholders across the selected districts.

Goal and Objective: Goal

To collect high-quality, qualitative data from the field using Semi-structured tools, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.

Objective

The primary objective of this engagement is to ensure articulate information on knowledge, attitude and practices of communities in the selected districts, in both quantitative and qualitative formats. This is to be achieved through tool creation and translation as required, accurate and timely collection of data from the field, and submission of clean data sets in appropriate formats. This will assist SELCO in analysing the information to gain a comprehensive and robust understanding of the region, the segment of people living, the implication of borders and climate on lives and livelihoods.

Scope of the study

The baseline field data collection is built on a comprehensive qualitative data’s to covering a range of critical aspects to ensure a detailed data collection of the intervention and its impacts. The qualitative data’s to be designed to capture qualitative data from the field with the flexibility to incorporate multimedia inputs like photographs, voice recordings, and GPS coordinates.

Field Survey Focused Geography:

The engagement involves onboarding research associate to conduct a baseline study and gather data from multiple locations in from one district of Assam and one district of Nagaland.

Qualifications s Requirement

• Minimum Educational Qualification: Post Graduation or higher.Mobile Device Requirement: Must have an Android smartphone with Android version 4.4 or above, and an active 4G internet connection for capturing photographs and videos.
• Interviewing Skills: Excellent interviewing and interpersonal skills, particularly in the social and development sectors.
• Field Experience: Previous experience in field data collection using Android- based data collection apps such as Survey CTO, ODK, etc.
• Local Knowledge: Research Associate must be fluency in Assamese and English language for ease of field data collection. Ability to converse fluently in the local language.
• Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively to rural and remote areas.
• Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated sensitivity to different cultural backgrounds and community dynamics.
