About the Organization

WOTR (Watershed Organisation Trust) emerged from the Indo-German Watershed Development Programme (IGWDP) in 1993, where we pioneered the large-scale mobilisation of communities to regenerate the landscapes they live in and harvest the rain that falls on them (also called watershed development). Today, WOTR is working across 8 states of India and has touched over 8 million lives in the last 32 years, and is a globally recognised non-profit and think tank that addresses the whole rural ecosystem as a cohesive entity, through landscape, watershed and natural resources management, ecology and biodiversity conservation, water resources management, climate resilient agriculture, livelihood diversification, women’s empowerment, nutrition, health, drinking water and sanitation.

Job Description

As our Communications Coordinator, you’ll be pivotal in coordinating our efforts to narrate our battle against climate change. Through your expertise, our initiatives and successes will be showcased across multiple channels, bringing light to the challenges and triumphs faced in rural revitalization.

• Work with a team that is as passionate as you to craft and implement communication strategies focused on climate action.
• Co-ordinate with field teams to source relevant updates in a timely manner.
• Co-ordinate with external vendors and partners to bring out communication products in a timely manner.
• Work on platforms like Shorthand to craft stories.
• Disseminate various communication outputs on digital media.
• Create engaging content for diverse media, including digital (website + email newsletters + social media), print, and video.
• Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders to develop and implement impactful communication strategies.
• Design visually compelling graphics and layouts using tools such as Canva for reports, posters and other promotional materials.
• Manage brand identity on LinkedIn and other social media platforms.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• A passionate communicator with 1-2 years’ experience in communications or journalism, having an interest in environmental storytelling.
• Masterful in both written and spoken English, with fluency in Hindi or Marathi to connect deeply with local communities.
• Proficient in using X and Instagram.
• Proficient in using Canva for design.
• Driven by a commitment to sustainability and proactive in promoting community-driven solutions to climate change.
