About the Organization

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water is one of Asia’s leading not-for-profit policy research institutions. CEEW uses data, integrated analysis, and strategic outreach to explain – and change – the use, reuse, and misuse of resources.

Job Description

CEEW is currently seeking a Research Analyst to join its Climate Resilience program, focusing on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and their role in reducing climate risks and disaster management. The role requires piloting and identifying NbS solutions across various states in India, evaluating their co-benefits and cost-to-benefit ratio, and developing strategies to scale these solutions at the district and sub-district levels. The Research Analyst will lead primary and secondary research, including surveys, questionnaires, data mining, and systematic literature reviews. The ideal candidate should have strong literature review skills and expertise in climate risk assessment, NbS implementation, and disaster risk reduction. The role involves developing indicators for risk assessment, mapping locally available nature-based solutions, and analysing climate and financial data to support the scaling of investments in NbS. The role will also require conducting in-depth literature reviews, data collection, and quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess adaptation finance needs and gaps across sectors and geographies. The role will involve synthesising financial and climate data, evaluating sectoral adaptation costs, and identifying financing mechanisms to scale up investments in climate resilience.

The Climate Resilience programme at CEEW envisions a future where institutions, infrastructure, economies, and people are insulated from the risks of a changing climate. Backed by rigorous data analysis, integrated research, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement,  our work is geared towards building on-ground community resilience by:

  • Examining, identifying, assessing, and predicting risks related to extreme climate events such as floods, droughts, and cyclones, variabilities in temperature and rainfall, and the compounding impacts of associated climate events at the national and sub-national levels.
  • Building tools to assess community resilience and adaptation capabilities and help climate-proof communities, infrastructure, and livelihoods through data-driven research and strategic outreach.
