About the Position

The HR Officer will support activities and initiatives addressing the human resource needs of AIF’s Education Program.

The incumbent will work closely with programme teams to support HR management requirements across India and coordinate with Program HR to ensure that the Education Program’s HR activities and processes are aligned with organization-wide policies and practices.

The role offers significant learning and contribution opportunities for someone interested in working with fast-growing social-impact teams operating at the grassroots level.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding – 70%

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, from requisition intake through offer closure, ensuring quality hiring within defined timelines.
  • Drive the complete joining and onboarding journey for new employees, ensuring documentation and joining formalities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with the HR SPOC to follow up on structured induction and onboarding for new joinees.
  • Maintain and update recruitment- and employee-related trackers, ensuring data accuracy and real-time visibility for stakeholders.
  • Ensure a consistently positive experience for all stakeholders in the hiring process, including candidates, new joinees, hiring managers and internal departments.

HR Operations – 30%

  • Set up and maintain personnel files for all employees, ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
  • Draft and issue HR letters and documentation, including:
    • Offer letters
    • Appointment letters
    • Experience letters
    • Confirmation letters
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date employee records across personnel files, HRMS and HR databases, including updates relating to employee movements and contractual changes.
  • Prepare HR reports, MIS, trackers and related documentation.
  • Support periodic data and documentation audits and drive timely closure of identified gaps.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • MBA/PGDM in HR will be an added advantage.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in HR operations, recruitment, HRMS/HRIS or employee lifecycle management.
  • Good understanding of HR processes, employee lifecycle, HR documentation and HR operations.
  • Proficiency in managing employee data, HR MIS and records using MS Excel and HR systems.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to the development/social sector will be an added advantage.
  • Strong coordination, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy, manage multiple priorities and meet timelines.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong HR operations, data-management and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with HRMS/HRIS.
  • Good written and verbal communication, coordination, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, meet timelines and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, integrity and ethical conduct in all HR activities.

Salary shall be commensurate with experience.
