Job Description

The Manager-Finance will oversee the day-to-day activities of the finance team and ensure that the organization’s finance function is organized, efficient and produces accurate financial and management accounts. Position will report to the Deputy Director – Finance and Regulatory Affairs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation of institutional and grant budgets, forecasts and cash flows and act as its custodian for routine fund clearances and approvals.
  • Maintenance of TALLY based financial ledgers and accounting processes.
  • Achieve timely audits i.e. internal, external, grants audit, tax etc., on need-based basis.
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statement.
  • Cash management, treasury and Banking function.
  • Financial management of the assets of the organization including fixed assets and transactions related to capitalization of integrated assets.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders, including tax authorities and consultants, to address queries and resolve issues.
  • Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Timely Preparation, issuance, submission of various returns and payment of taxes under Income Tax, GST and FCRA.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and trial balance monthly.
  • Respond promptly to any communications or notices received from regulatory authorities regarding FCRA matters.
  • Prepare and submit FCRA returns and reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as per prescribed formats and timelines.
  • Establish internal controls and procedures to monitor FCRA compliance across the organization.
  • Ensure all legal compliances.
  • Preparation of Project related SOEs/UCs.
  • Coordinate with external funding agencies, research collaborating institutions to prepare and submit grant invoices.
  • Any other task assigned by the Supervisor/s.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • CA INTER, MBA, bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.

Experience: Essential:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or related fields, particularly in the public sector or non-profit sector.

Desirable:

  • Proficient knowledge of preparing financials and compliance with laws such as GST (Goods and Services Tax), Income Tax, and FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act).
  • Good communicator and a team player, resilient and capable of supervising and leading a team of finance staff.
  • The candidate should be confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail, good judgment, showing logical decision making, and a hands-on approach.
  • Computer literate with good excel skills and database management and solid understanding of TALLY workflows.
