- Reports to: Project In charge
- Employment Type: Contractual. 1 year extendable for 1 more year.
Position Overview
The Pharmacist will manage the storage and distribution of medicines at the clinic and ensure correct and ethical dispensing based on prescriptions, while maintaining proper documentation and supporting inventory systems.
Core Responsibilities (70%)
1. Dispensing and Counselling
- Dispense medicines to patients as per doctor’s prescription
- Provide clear instructions on dosage, storage, and side effects
- Counsel patients on medicine adherence and precautions
2. Inventory and Stock Management
- Maintain updated stock registers, issue logs, and reorder levels
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure safe storage of drugs
- Support procurement team in forecasting medicine needs
3. Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and licensing
- Maintain daily logs of dispensed medications
- Assist in preparing drug usage reports and consumption trends.
- Support in Patient Registration and community Mobilisation as and when required.
Other Responsibilities (30%)
- Coordinate with field staff and nurses for medicine delivery during camps or outreach
- Participate in periodic health reviews, audits, and trainings
- Provide support in setting up temporary medical units for special events
Eligibility:
- Educational Qualification: Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy (B. Pharm); valid pharmacy council license required.
- Experience: Minimum 1–3 years in clinical or retail pharmacy preferred
- Knowledge of essential drugs list, rational drug use, and pharmacy norms
- Knowledge of Health Application and Basic computer is desirable.
- Detail-oriented, ethical, and committed to patient safety
- Proficiency in maintaining records manually or digitally
- Comfortable working in low-resource settings
- knowledge of local languages like Nepali is mandatory, Bengali would be an advantage.
