Job Description
The Project Officer - Mental Health will support the Project Manager in implementing, monitoring, and expanding Project Mumbai's mental health initiatives. This role requires a dynamic individual who can work across diverse settings including schools, prisons, police stations, and community spaces while maintaining the highest standards of trauma-informed care.
Job Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Delivery:
- Deliver Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum weekly in 1–5 BMC schools to strengthen student competencies.
- Co-facilitate mental health awareness sessions in police stations, prisons, and other organizational settings to build knowledge and sensitivity.
- Conduct group sessions and provide one-on-one counseling in prisons to address inmate well-being.
- Respond to SAMVAAD helpline calls, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Train facilitators to deliver the SEL curriculum effectively in BMC schools.
- Coordinate with 7–10 facilitators to ensure smooth implementation and task management for The Smiling Schools Project
- Design and adapt training materials to align with the needs of diverse target groups.
Research and Documentation:
- Drive evidence-based decision-making by collecting, documenting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data (pre- and post-assessments) across all mental health initiatives.
- Strengthen program effectiveness through meticulous documentation of activities, participant feedback, and measurable outcomes.
- Advance organizational growth by producing compelling reports that enhance donor confidence, engage stakeholders, and secure funding through grants and partnerships.
Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with BMC, Maharashtra Government, donors, NGOs, and other institutional partners to secure permissions, manage documentation, and ensure efficient project delivery.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master's degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (Essential)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mental health programming, community outreach, or related field, with minimum 1 year experience working with BMC schools and/or prison systems
- Training in trauma-informed care or crisis intervention (essential)
- Fluency in Marathi and English (essential)
- Knowledge of mental health assessment tools and intervention techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace
- Exposure to data collection and analysis tools
