About the Organization
Badlao Foundation has been working in Santhal Pargana of Jharkhand State since 1982 for the upliftment of tribal communities by focusing on women’s empowerment, whose livelihoods are based on forest-based production. In addition to this, Badlao Foundation is working on INRM, health, education, and environmental sustainability.
Job Description
The Project Assistant will provide administrative, logistical, and programmatic support to the forest rights and NRM projects. They will assist the project lead in the execution, monitoring, and documentation of project activities; engage with communities and local stakeholders; and ensure smooth field operations aligned with the project goals.
Job Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Coordination
- Assist in organizing and facilitating village-level meetings, Gram Sabhas, Mahila Sabhas, and CFMC conventions.
- Support in mobilizing community members and maintaining effective communication with Forest Rights Committees and women’s groups.
- Help in the implementation of field activities, including training sessions, capacity-building workshops, exposure visits, and field surveys.
- Coordinate field logistics such as venue arrangements, travel, material distribution, and attendance tracking.
- Maintain daily field movement records and share weekly updates with the project lead.
Monitoring and Data Management
- Collect and compile data on project indicators, community feedback, and meeting outputs.
- Maintain attendance sheets, photo documentation, case stories, and field registers.
- Support the project lead in preparing activity reports, progress updates, and MIS entries.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with communities for data verification and impact assessment.
Community Engagement and Capacity Building
- Support community-level awareness of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), CFR management, and sustainable NTFP livelihoods.
- Assist in the delivery of training modules and online courses by coordinating local participants and resources.
- Liaise with FPOs and women-led collectives for documentation and outreach of faith-based enterprise models.
Administrative Support
- Maintain records of expenditures, vouchers, and activity-wise budgeting under guidance.
- Handle printing, documentation, and filing work in coordination with office staff.
- Ensure timely submission of travel claims, attendance, and reporting documentation.
Cross-thematic and Inter-departmental Engagement:
- Assist in integrating gender and inclusion aspects in field activities and documentation.
- Collaborate with teams working on knowledge management, advocacy, and policy engagement when required.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate in social work, rural development, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in field-level project implementation, preferably in NRM, FRA, or livelihood sectors.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi languages (knowledge of Santhali language will be an advantage).
- Strong interpersonal, coordination, and community engagement skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, data entry).
- Need to travel to field areas for 15 days in the month.
