Finance Officer

NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad invites applications for the following positions on contractual basis for a New Criminal Justice Centre. The aims of the centre will include providing legal aid and conducting research on various issues in the criminal justice system in India. The centre will have offices in Delhi, Pune, Nagpur and at the NALSAR University campus in Hyderabad.

The position will be based out of NALSAR University of Law Campus in Shameerpet, Hyderabad.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement accounting systems for the programme, experience in handling multiple grants received from various funding agencies.
2. Perform day-to-day processing and payment of financial/accounting transactions i.e., approval of expenses, payment of approved expenses, posting in Tally Prime accounting software, filing of vouchers, managing petty cash, salaries, staff reimbursements, vendor payments, bank reconciliations, etc., on time bound manner.
3. Prepare and maintain accounting, financial reports, utilization certificates, forecasts and monitoring statements, and ensure timely submission of reports to the University and funding agencies.
4. Handling bank and investment-related activities of the programme.
5. Preparation of monthly tax deduction details for Income Tax and GST returns.
6. Liaise with the University for various approvals on a day-to-day basis.
7. Conduct and assist in the periodic audit of the books of account.
8. Work closely with the accounts staff in Delhi, Pune and Nagpur to ensure smooth functioning of the Centre.
9. Any other work which may arise from time to time.

Qualifications:

1. Graduate or Postgraduate Qualifications in Commerce/Management.
2. At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
3. Proficiency in Tally accounting software, ability to use advanced Excel formulas and pivot tables, Microsoft Word, etc.
4. Proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs, and Calendar.
5. Proficiency in written and spoken English is compulsory.
6. Familiarity with conversational Hindi and Telugu is preferable.

Compensation: Remuneration will be 50,000 - 60,000 per month commensurate with qualifications, experience.
